Mainz's New Tram Line Expansion Enters Final Phase
Mainz's new tram line expansion enters its final phase. Bilhildisstraße near Münsterplatz will shut down to traffic from October 29, 2023, until November 22, 2023, for construction work to commence.
During this period, Bilhildisstraße will be inaccessible from Münsterplatz. Residents and visitors can access it via Münsterstraße from Schillerplatz. The city administration, responsible for the project, is based at Stadthaus Große Bleiche, providing a central point for updates and information.
Starting October 25, 2023, traffic patterns at Alicenbrücke will change. Pedestrians and cyclists will be rerouted around the construction site. However, the lane leading toward Alicenbrücke will remain unaffected by the closure.
The closure of Bilhildisstraße is necessary for the completion of Mainz's new tram line. The city administration urges residents and commuters to plan their routes accordingly and follow the rerouting signs for pedestrians and cyclists. The project is expected to be completed by November 22, 2023.
