Major forest road closures begin as €1.6M renovation enters final phase

Motorists in the region are advised to plan alternative routes due to the ongoing renovation of state roads L422 and L423. The project, which began in late August, is expected to be completed by early December, with a total cost of €1.6 million.

The Lenneberg Forest Road Renewal Project, led by an unnamed official at the Rhineland-Palatinate Mobility Agency, is addressing extensive damage on the roads, including cracks, deformations, and surface depressions. The project is being carried out section by section, with a temporary traffic light managing vehicles at the L422/L423 junction.

From November 13, L423 (Binger Straße) will be fully closed between the L422/L423 junction and the entrance to Budenheim, while L422 will remain open for two-way traffic between the Heidesheim interchange (A60) and Mainz-Gonsenheim. Motorists are advised to use large-scale detours via the A60 and A643 highways during the closure.

The final construction phase of the Lenneberg Forest Road Renewal Project has begun, with the aim of completing the work by early December. The renovation of state roads L422 and L423 near Lenneberg Forest is expected to improve road safety and driving conditions in the area.
