Majority of Russians Oppose Restrictions on Foreign Digital Platforms, Survey Finds

A recent survey conducted on October 10, 2025, among 1,600 Russians aged 18 and above has revealed a significant opposition to restrictions on foreign digital platforms. The findings show that a majority of Russians, particularly the younger generations, are against these limitations.

The survey found that 39% of Russians oppose restrictions on foreign digital platforms. This sentiment is even stronger among the younger population. A staggering 58% of 'digital natives', born after 2001, and 68% of younger millennials (born between 1992 and 2000) are against these restrictions.

Despite the blocking of foreign resources, 54% of Russians report no impact on their lives. However, 12% face difficulties finding information, and 11% encounter challenges communicating with family and friends due to these blocks. Interestingly, 34% of Russians believe these restrictions have positively influenced domestic platforms.

The survey highlights a clear divide in opinions among Russians regarding the restrictions on foreign digital platforms. While a significant majority opposes these limitations, a substantial minority supports them. The impact of these restrictions on daily life remains mixed, with some Russians unaffected and others facing challenges.
