Malaysian Chancellor urges unity and integrity in higher education

The Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Sultan Abdul Sallehuddin ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, recently addressed graduates and emphasized the importance of integrity and unity in higher education institutions. Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohd Fo'ad Sakdan currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor (Rector) of UUM.

Sultan Sallehuddin congratulated the 6,832 graduates who received their degrees across nine convocation sessions at UUM. He reminded everyone that these institutions are meant for acquiring knowledge, not for spreading slander or engaging in political activities. The Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, echoed these sentiments, urging all parties to avoid turning universities into platforms for political divisions.

UUM, ranked 491st globally, excels in quality education and innovation. The Chancellor called upon all parties to unite in ensuring that these institutions uphold integrity and are anchored in truth. He warned that if knowledge is used as a tool for politics and slander, it will destroy public trust and hinder the future of upcoming generations. Instead, universities should serve as bridges of unity, not walls of division.

Sultan Sallehuddin's address underscored the crucial role of universities in fostering unity, integrity, and knowledge acquisition. UUM, with its strong global ranking and commitment to quality education, is committed to these principles. The Chancellor's call for unity and integrity serves as a reminder for all stakeholders in higher education.
