Mallorca taxi driver convicted of assaulting British tourist in 2023

A taxi driver in Mallorca has been convicted of sexually assaulting a British tourist in October 2023. The attack took place inside his vehicle while the woman was intoxicated. The court ordered a fine and compensation after the driver admitted to the assault.

The incident happened on October 3, 2023, when the driver picked up the victim but took her to Palma Airport instead of her hotel. During the journey, he touched her breasts and groin over her clothing and tried to kiss her. The woman, who had been drinking, later reported the assault to police.

The driver reached a plea agreement, admitting to the charges. He received a fine of around €2,880 and was ordered to pay compensation to the victim. Official records on similar cases in tourist hotspots like Magaluf and Palma are not publicly consolidated, as incident reports remain within local police and regional government databases.

The victim suffered psychological effects, including anxiety, depression, and flashbacks. She required professional support following the attack.

The conviction follows the driver's admission of inappropriate physical contact and the diversion of the taxi route. The court's ruling includes financial penalties and compensation for the victim's psychological treatment. Authorities have not released broader statistics on similar incidents in Mallorca's tourist zones.
