Man arrested after hiding under desk in Colorado health department break-in
A 62-year-old man, identified as Michael Jackson, was arrested in Greeley, Colorado, following a trespassing incident at the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. The suspect was found hiding under a desk in a locked office around 20 minutes after the initial search concluded.
Earlier reports indicated that deputies responded to a call about a door being left open. They spotted a man inside the building who was not authorized to be there. The suspect, later identified as Jackson, was apprehended without any resistance. Jackson now faces charges of second-degree burglary, theft under $300, criminal mischief under $300, and second-degree criminal tampering.
Michael Jackson, 62, is being held in Weld County Jail as the investigation continues. His bond has been set at $5,000. It's unclear what motivated the trespassing incident or if any property was damaged or stolen. The Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment has since secured the building and resumed normal operations.
