Man arrested after robbery and barricade in Del Ray
A 31-year-old man was arrested in Alexandria early Saturday after allegedly committing a strong-arm robbery in Del Ray. The incident took place around 2:15 a.m., and no injuries were reported during the confrontation.
The suspect, identified as Michael Johnson, was accused of using force during the robbery. After the crime, he reportedly barricaded himself inside an apartment on the 1700 block of Dewitt Avenue. Police later took him into custody at a different location—the 2200 block of Mount Vernon Avenue, also in Del Ray.
Johnson now faces multiple charges, including assault and battery, obstruction, and robbery. Under Virginia law, robbery by force is classified as a Class 5 felony. If convicted, he could receive a prison sentence of one to 10 years and a fine of up to $2,500.
The case will proceed through the legal system, with Johnson set to appear in court for the charges against him. The investigation remains ongoing, though authorities have confirmed no injuries resulted from the incident.
