Man arrested at Heide station after evading €4,100 fine and weapons charge
A 31-year-old man was arrested at Heide station after failing to pay a €4,100 fine and evading the authorities. Police took him into custody, where he will now serve a seven-month prison sentence for previous offences. The arrest took place when officers identified the man at Heide station. He had been convicted in 2022 for bodily harm but had not settled the outstanding fine. Instead of surrendering to the authorities, he remained at large. During the search, police discovered an illegal telescopic baton in his possession. A report was filed for violating weapons laws, adding to his existing charges. Hanspeter Schwartz, spokesman for the Bundespolizeiinspektion Flensburg, confirmed the details but did not disclose the name of the inspection’s head. The man was immediately transferred to prison, where he will serve 201 days behind bars. The arrest follows a pattern of non-compliance with court orders. His sentence begins without further delay, and the weapons violation will be addressed separately. Authorities have not released additional information about the case.
