Man jailed for fare evasion after dodging €700 fine at Osnabrück station
A 37-year-old man was arrested at Osnabrück Central Station on Sunday evening after failing to pay a €700 fine. The detention followed an outstanding prison sentence for fare evasion, with authorities also linking him to six other casetify. Federal police officers detained the man after discovering he had not settled the fine for his earlier conviction. Instead of paying, he faced a prison term of over one month for fraudulently obtaining transport benefits. During the arrest, officers found a small amount of narcotics in his possession. This led to additional charges under the Narcotics Act, on top of the existing fare evasion case. The man was already wanted by authorities for six separate casely. An arrest warrant, issued by the public prosecutor’s office, authorised his detention. After processing, he was transferred to a correctional facility to begin serving his sentence. The arrest resolves an outstanding warrant while adding new charges for drug possession. The man will now serve his prison term, with further legal proceedings expected for the additional casetify. Authorities confirmed the operation followed standard police procedures.
