Tortured his family for years, now man must serve time - Man jailed for seven-year campaign of psychological and physical abuse against family
A 45-year-old man has been jailed for a prolonged campaign of abuse against his partner and her two daughters. The court heard how he controlled, isolated, and tormented the family over seven years, between 2013 and 2019.
The man convinced his victims they were being hunted by a drug cartel. He also claimed they suffered from serious, contagious illnesses. To enforce his lies, he posed as a doctor, giving them injections—sometimes in their heads—and locked the girls in their rooms for days.
The abuse included false imprisonment, grievous bodily harm, and severe psychological torment. A judge sentenced him to three years and ten months in prison. However, the court later reduced the enforcement period by six months, leaving him to serve three years and four months.
The case reveals the extreme lengths to which the man went to manipulate and harm his family. His victims endured years of deception, physical abuse, and isolation before the crimes came to light. The reduced sentence means he will spend just over three years behind bars.
