Manchester’s election results reveal landslide wins and historic shifts in leadership
Manchester's presidential election results are in, with Mayor Connie Behnken and Council Member Mary Ann Poynor securing re-election. Behnken won with a landslide 70% of the electoral votes, while Poynor was re-elected to a fourth term with 61%.
Behnken faced a challenge from Joe Dittrick, who received 29% of the votes. Meanwhile, Poynor's re-election was contested by Curt Meiner, who garnered nearly 38% of the electoral votes.
In the City Council's 2nd ward, Diane Hammell made history by defeating the incumbent Linda Schmitt to secure her first term. Hammell won with 55% of the electoral votes. The name of the person who did not win a third term for this seat is not yet known.
The City of Manchester has not yet announced the date for the swearing-in of the newly-elected mayor and council members. The successful candidates will take their oaths of office and begin their new terms soon.
