Marburg Honors OUR!Stage and 'Grandmas' for Gender Equality, Diversity
The city of Marburg has recognized two local initiatives for their dedication to gender equality and diversity. The OUR!Stage collective and the Network Omas against the Right have been awarded the Marburg Equality Prize 2025, a biennial honour that comes with a 2,500 euro endowment.
OUR!Stage, led by Tina Kuhn who has faced discrimination in the cultural scene, creates spaces for FLINTA* persons to express their diversity and strengthen their community. The collective aims to offer a safe space for people to try out and make music without competition or pressure.
The Network Omas against the Right, including 'Grandmas Against the Right', is committed to democracy, equality, and respect for all people. The 'Grandmas' want to leave their grandchildren a more colorful and better world. Both groups have faced harassment and hate comments, but they continue to advocate for their causes.
The Marburg Equality Prize, awarded every two years, honours commitment to gender equality in the city. This year's winners, OUR!Stage and the Network Omas against the Right, embody this commitment through their work in creating inclusive spaces and advocating for equality and democracy.
