Marcos Jr. Pledges Full Support for Davao Oriental's Earthquake Rehabilitation

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has pledged full support for Davao Oriental's rehabilitation following recent earthquakes. The province saw 176,906 families affected, with 11,381 homes damaged, including 752 totally destroyed. The city of Mati was hardest hit, with 28,048 affected families. Manay, the epicenter, suffered 129 totally destroyed homes.

The government is acting swiftly to provide temporary shelters. The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will construct 150 modular housing units for residents in Manay and neighboring towns. Each unit will include a bathroom, electricity and water connections, and a common kitchen, ensuring dignified living conditions during recovery.

The provincial government has appealed for donations of construction materials to aid in rebuilding efforts. The relocation of displaced families to the new modular homes is targeted for Monday. President Marcos Jr. has committed to using modular homes as a model for future disaster responses, assuring full national government support for Davao Oriental's rehabilitation.

Baganga registered the highest number of totally damaged homes at 217. The Philippine government has initiated a project to build 150 modular homes for affected residents of Manay and surrounding towns. The City of Mati recorded the highest number of affected families at 28,048. The government's swift response aims to provide immediate relief and support the province's recovery.
