Marl Unites for WDR 2’s *Christmas Miracle* Fundraising Drive
A fundraising drive for WDR 2’s Christmas Miracle campaign has kicked off in Marl. Backed by the city, Marien-Hospital, and local groups, the initiative aims to gather donations before a final presentation on December 14. The effort began with young volunteers from St. Joseph’s parish, who organised early events like barbecues and waffle sales to raise money.
The campaign started with altar servers and members of the parish family circle at St. Joseph’s. Their initial events, including a barbecue and waffle-baking, helped build early momentum. Mayor Thomas Terhorst soon took on official patronage, bringing in further support from Marl’s Youth and Trainee Council.
The campaign has grown from a small parish effort into a city-wide initiative. With events on December 11 and the final handover three days later, the funds will support WDR 2’s Christmas Miracle projects. The involvement of local leaders, medical professionals, and volunteers has ensured broad participation in the drive.
