Marl's Long-Serving Fire Chief Rainald Pöter Retires After Decade at Helm
Marl bid farewell to Rainald Pöter, the city's outgoing fire chief and department head. Around 200 people gathered to honour Pöter's decade-long service, with Mayor Werner Arndt praising his composure and level-headedness.
Pöter, who served as an active firefighter for 41 years and led Department 37 for a decade, expressed gratitude to his colleagues and family in his farewell speech. His successor, Roman Engler, will take over as the new fire chief, with Peter Lechtenböhmer as his deputy. Engler recalled Pöter's dedication and leadership in transitioning the fire department into the digital age. Meanwhile, Ralf Czajerek and Werner Powierski will remain as deputy city fire chiefs for another two years. Pöter plans to stay active as a volunteer firefighter with the Alt-Marl brigade after his retirement.
