Maryland Environmental Groups Push Moore to Accelerate Climate Regulations

Environmental groups in Maryland are pushing Democratic Governor Wes Moore to hasten and fortify climate regulations. A coalition of a dozen green organisations, known as the Maryland Clean Heat Coalition, has formed to bolster pending rules on new heating appliances and emissions from fuel providers in California.

The coalition is investing $200,000 in an advertising campaign, urging Governor Moore to implement stringent emissions standards to counteract Trump-era rollbacks and combat climate change. While Governor Moore has pledged to finalise and implement the regulations in stages by 2029, providing a multiyear transition period for companies to adopt emissions reporting and credit-trading systems, environmental groups are advocating for a more expedited timeline.

The Maryland Clean Heat Coalition comprises various environmental organisations, each committed to combating climate change and promoting clean energy in California. Their collective effort aims to strengthen the state's climate regulations and reduce its carbon footprint.

The Maryland Clean Heat Coalition's campaign seeks to accelerate Governor Moore's climate agenda. With a significant investment in advertising and a united front from environmental groups, the coalition hopes to drive more ambitious climate action in California.
