Masked Protesters Disrupt Political Event in Dahlem, Berlin
A political event in Dahlem, Berlin, turned tense today as a group of masked protesters attempted to disrupt proceedings. The event, hosted by a local political party branch, was registered from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Around 60 participants gathered at the corner of Königin-Luise-Straße and Fabeckstraße, with five individuals denied entry and having their identities checked by police at around 6:30 PM.
Earlier in the evening, at around 6:10 PM, a man was stopped and removed by police while allegedly heading to the venue. Tensions escalated as the protest grew, with the group attempting to force their way past police lines toward the venue. Eleven police officers suffered eye and respiratory irritation during the intervention. Around 100 officers were deployed to secure the event. An impromptu protest against racist deportation policies was registered at the scene at around 6:40 PM. A total of ten individuals were temporarily detained for identification purposes and later released.
The venue on Königin-Luise-Straße had previously been targeted for property damage by politically motivated graffiti. The event organisers had likely taken additional security measures in light of this history. The protest, while disruptive, was largely contained by police presence. The event was able to continue as planned, with no major incidents reported after the initial disruption.
