Police Report: Lörrach District – Fire in Grenzach Retail Store Causes Major Damage
Massive fire at Grenzach retail store causes €250,000 in damages

Time of incident: March 28, 2026 – 5:00 PM
Emergency services were alerted at around 5:00 PM to a fire in a retail store on Basler Straße in Grenzach.
According to current police findings, the blaze broke out in the sales area during business hours.
Several apartments are located directly above the store. While heavy smoke spread through the ceiling void, a full-scale fire did not develop.
No injuries were reported.
The store remains temporarily unusable, with preliminary damage estimates at approximately €250,000. The destroyed inventory inside is valued at around €180,000.
Though firefighters quickly brought the situation under control, mop-up operations are expected to continue for several more hours.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Investigations will be led by the police station in Grenzach-Wyhlen. Initial response efforts were carried out by officers from the Rheinfelden precinct, assisted by neighboring police units.
