Massive fire engulfs former Berlin parking garage in Kreuzberg
A fire broke out early this morning in a former parking garage on Ritterstraße in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after midnight to tackle the blaze.
The alarm was raised at around 12:20 a.m., prompting police and firefighters to respond. The building, which now contains storage units, a workshop, and parked vehicles, was engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Berlin fire brigade worked to bring the situation under control and successfully extinguished the fire.
The cause of the incident remains unclear. Investigators from the Berlin State Criminal Police Office’s arson unit have since taken charge of the case.
Authorities continue to examine the scene to determine how the fire started. The building sustained damage, though the full extent has yet to be assessed.
