Three Trucks Catch Fire in Harbor Area - Massive port fire in Duisburg leaves three trucks destroyed and railway halted

A major fire, or blaze, broke out in Duisburg’s Meiderich-Beeck port district on Friday evening. Three trucks were completely engulfed in flames by the time emergency crews arrived. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze.

The incident began when all three vehicles caught fire in quick succession. Witnesses reported seeing thick smoke and intense flames rising from the port area. Around 70 firefighters from multiple stations and volunteer brigades rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze.

One truck driver suffered burns to his hands and was taken to hospital for treatment. Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the fire, but the intensity required temporary closure of a nearby railway line. The disruption lasted until the flames were fully extinguished. The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) of North Rhine-Westphalia has now taken over the investigation. Their team is examining the site to determine how the fires started and whether any foul play was involved.

The port’s railway line has since reopened, but questions remain about the origin of the blaze. The injured driver is receiving medical care, while investigators continue their work. Updates on the cause are expected once the probe concludes.
