Massive raids expose €670,000 minimum wage fraud and illegal immigration scheme
Nearly 200 police and customs officers carried out large-scale raids across several locations this week. The operation targeted suspected wage theft, illegal residency, and document fraud. Authorities believe a 46-year-old Turkish national embezzled wages and evaded over €670,000 in minimum wage payments for 2024 alone.
The raids were led by the Koblenz Main Customs Office’s Financial Task Force for Undeclared Work. Officers searched multiple properties, seizing extensive evidence for further examination. However, analysing the material is expected to take weeks or even months.
The operation marks one of the largest crackdowns on wage fraud and illegal immigration in the region. With evidence still under review, further charges could follow. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether additional arrests will be made.
