Master carpenter honored for 27 years of shaping young woodworking talent
Oliver Kanz has received the Hessian Certificate of Honor for his decades of voluntary work in carpentry training. The award, presented by Lord Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke on 14 May 2024, recognises his commitment to nurturing young talent in the trade. Kanz has spent over 27 years guiding apprentices and shaping vocational standards.
Before joining the examination board, Kanz worked as a master carpenter. In 1996, he became an active member of the Joiners’ Guild Examination Board for Offenbach city and district. His role expanded over time, leading to his current position as chair of the journeyman examination committee, where he oversees intermediate and final trade exams.
The Hessian Certificate of Honor acknowledges Kanz’s long-term impact on carpentry education. His roles in examination, training, and dispute resolution have strengthened vocational pathways for young joiners. The award reflects both his personal dedication and the broader importance of skilled craftsmanship in the region.
