Mayoral candidate’s poster ends up 130 km from her election race
A campaign poster for Freising’s mayoral candidate Monika Schwind has appeared in Ulm—130 kilometres away from where it should be. The mix-up happened on the same day as key elections in both cities, causing confusion among voters. The poster was meant to promote Schwind’s bid for mayor in Freising. Instead, it ended up on a Litfaßsäule in Ulm, where she is not running. Residents there cannot vote for her, as she has no connection to Ulm’s election. Another poster from the same advertising company was also spotted in Ulm, suggesting the error likely came from them. Meanwhile, in Freising, one of Schwind’s posters is missing from its planned location. Reinhard Fiedler, leader of the FSM parliamentary group, expects the missing Freising poster to be put up soon. Schwind herself has made it clear she wants to stay focused on Freising and has no interest in becoming Ulm’s mayor. The mistake has drawn attention to the role of the advertising agency responsible for the posters. With elections underway in both cities, the error highlights the need for careful coordination in campaign materials. Schwind’s team now awaits the correct placement of her remaining posters in Freising.
