MDR Council Proposes 14th Amendment to Fix Vacancy Delays

The MDR Broadcasting Council could soon change how it handles vacancies. Currently, the council lacks a system for alternate members, which has caused delays and underrepresentation. A proposed 14th amendment to the MDR State Treaty aims to fix this by introducing automatic replacements for resigning or unavailable members.

The current MDR State Treaty does not include rules for alternates or replacements. If a member resigns before their term ends, the state parliament must elect a new one with the same majority as before. This process can take time, leaving the council short-handed and slowing down decisions.

If approved, the amendment would prevent future delays by ensuring automatic replacements for departing members. The council would maintain full representation, avoiding the legal and practical issues caused by vacancies. The proposal now awaits further review and potential adoption by the state parliaments involved.
