Mecklenburg-Vorpommern celebrates 30 years of geodesy innovation and growing careers
Today marks a significant milestone in the history of geodesy in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It's been 30 years since the appointment of publicly appointed surveying engineers (BDVI) in the region. To celebrate this anniversary and showcase the career, the 'Tag der Geodäsie' (Day of Geodesy) is planned for July 22, 2025, across three major cities: Greifswald, Rostock, and Schwerin.
The career prospects in geodesy and geoinformation are looking bright. The state's career portal lists all available training positions, making it easier for aspiring professionals to find their path. The ministry, led by Christian Pegel, has been instrumental in boosting the profession's appeal. Over the past five years, they've worked tirelessly to enhance public relations and expand dual study programs.
The fruits of their labor are evident. In August 2024, 39 future geomaticians and surveying technicians successfully completed their training, a testament to the ministry's efforts.
As we celebrate the 30th anniversary of BDVI's appointment, we look forward to the 'Tag der Geodäsie' in 2025. This event promises to offer a fascinating glimpse into the world of surveying and geoinformation. Meanwhile, the ministry continues to strengthen the profession, ensuring a steady pipeline of talented geomaticians and surveying technicians for the region.
