More Money for Civil Servants - Wage Agreement to be Transferred - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania approves civil servant pay hikes starting April 2023

Civil servants and judges in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are set to receive a pay rise from April 1, 2023. The increase follows a public sector wage agreement reached earlier this year. A draft bill will soon be presented to the state parliament for approval.

The salary adjustments will see a 2.8 percent rise for all eligible employees, with a guaranteed minimum increase of €100. Trainee civil servants will also benefit, receiving an extra €60 in their allowances starting this April.

A further 2 percent raise is planned for March 1, 2027, followed by an additional 1 percent increase on January 1, 2028. The changes align with the public sector wage deal agreed in February 2023, as confirmed by the dbb civil service union. Retirees will also see their pensions adjusted in line with the new rates.

The state government will submit a draft bill to the parliament in the first half of 2023. Legislative approval is required before the salary increases can take effect.

Once approved, the pay rises will apply to civil servants, judges, and trainees across the state. The adjustments will also extend to pensioners, ensuring their payments reflect the updated wage structure. The first increase is scheduled to begin on April 1, 2023.
