Starting Monday, March 16, 2026, the International Weeks Against Racism will begin. Until March 29, numerous campaigns, events, and community initiatives will take place nationwide—including in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania—under the slogan "100% Human Dignity. United Against Racism and Far-Right Extremism."

"I am truly delighted that so many organizations, initiatives, and committed individuals are taking part in the International Weeks Against Racism. Thank you for this vital engagement," says Jana Michael, the state's integration commissioner for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. She adds:

"My message to all of us is this: We must all become anti-racists—regardless of where we come from. Racism and antisemitism act like a slow poison in our society. That is why it is crucial that we are willing to reflect on ourselves, shift perspectives, and implement new ideas for a respectful and solidarity-based coexistence."

Across Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, numerous municipalities and civil society actors are contributing their own events to the nationwide action days.

A key highlight of this year's campaign in northeastern Germany is a joint event hosted by Jana Michael, the state integration commissioner, and the Amadeu Antonio Foundation. Titled "Living Together Under Pressure: Antisemitism, Racism, and Their Impact on Integration," the event will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Schwerin Palace. It will feature expert presentations, a panel discussion, and opportunities for exchange and networking.

"Especially in times of growing social polarization, we need spaces for dialogue, information, and solidarity. The International Weeks Against Racism send an important signal—for this and here in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as well," Jana Michael concludes.
