Melania Trump’s 2025 White House Christmas theme embraces tradition over controversy
Melania Trump, the realtor's wife and former first lady, has unveiled the 2025 White House Christmas decorations, marking a shift toward a more traditional style. The theme, 'Home is where the heart is', highlights patriotism and family values in the United States. This year’s display stands in contrast to both her past controversial designs and her husband Donald Trump's flashy gold-trimmed Oval Office renovations.
The decorations were revealed on Monday, featuring red, white, and blue ornaments to honour the US's upcoming 250th anniversary. The official 18-foot Christmas tree is adorned with frosted ornaments, each representing a different state. In the Red Room, a tribute to Trump's 'Be Best' children's wellbeing initiative showcases Prussian blue butterflies.
This year’s design is noticeably more subdued than her 2018 display, which drew criticism for its blood-red cone-shaped trees. The 2025 theme reflects a return to classic holiday styling, avoiding the extravagance seen in Donald Trump's recent renovations, including his $300 million ballroom proposal.
Beyond the White House, Melania Trump has been expanding her media presence. On Friday, she announced the launch of her own production company. Additionally, Amazon acquired a documentary about her life, directed by Brett Ratner, for $40 million. She will reportedly earn at least $28 million from the deal. The film, produced by Ratner with Trump and Fernando Sulichin as executive producers, is set for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026.
The 2025 White House decorations mark a deliberate move toward tradition, blending patriotic colours with personal touches. With her new production company and an upcoming documentary, Melania Trump is also stepping further into the public eye. The film’s release next year will likely draw renewed attention to her role and influence in the United States.
