Merab Kostava Museum Reopens After $600K Renovation

The Memorial House-Museum of Georgia's National Hero Merab Kostava has reopened after a comprehensive rehabilitation project. The total cost of the project was 1,740,000 GEL, and it was attended by high-ranking officials including Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Minister of Culture Tika Rukhadze, and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.

The renovation expanded the museum's total area, modernized its exhibition spaces, and equipped it with new technology. The project also created a comfortable public area in the yard, a modern educational space, and a storage facility for over 20,000 artifacts. Mayor Kakha Kaladze noted that the building was in a severely deteriorated state before the renovation. The museum is located at 1 Mikheil Zandukeli St, Tbilisi.

The funding for the project is not explicitly stated and could involve public funds, private sponsors, or a combination of sources. For precise information, it is advisable to contact the relevant authorities or organizations involved in the project.

The reopened Merab Kostava Memorial House-Museum now offers visitors a modern and comfortable space to learn about Georgia's history and cultural heritage. The rehabilitation project has not only restored the building but also expanded its capabilities, ensuring that it continues to serve as a significant cultural and historical site.
