Mercedes crashes into pond after driver loses control on A45 near Hanau
A 40-year-old driver lost control of his Mercedes on the A45 near Hanau after taking a left-hand bend too fast. The car smashed through a guardrail and landed in a pond, leaving the man trapped inside. Emergency services rushed to the scene to free him.
The crash happened when the driver failed to navigate the curve safely. His vehicle broke through the barrier before plunging into the water below. Rescue teams worked quickly to pull him from the wreckage.
The man was taken to hospital with suspected injuries, including a broken arm. Authorities have since closed the on-ramp to the A66 toward Maintal to clear the wreckage and investigate. Drivers are facing delays as traffic is diverted around the area.
The accident has caused significant disruption, with the ramp remaining shut while recovery work continues. Police have not yet confirmed how long the closure will last. The injured driver remains under medical care for his injuries.
