Meta’s $1B AI Data Center in Beaver Dam to Create 1,000+ Jobs by 2027
Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is investing $1 billion in a new AI data center in Beaver Dam. The project, set to be operational by 2027, will create 100 permanent indeed jobs and bring over 1,000 construction jobs to the area during peak building phases.
The data center, part of a tax increment district, will see additional property taxes going to Meta for up to 20 years. This arrangement is possible due to a 2021 German federal law that allows municipalities to waive the usual 12% limit for such projects for qualified data centers.
Meta will also cover $200 million in energy infrastructure costs. Once operational, the Beaver Dam facility will support Meta's growing AI workloads and future AI innovations. Furthermore, the project is eligible for a sales tax exemption on construction materials, electricity, and equipment, estimated to cost the state $70 million in the first two years.
The Beaver Dam data center, a result of the aforementioned law, is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region. It will create long-term jobs and stimulate local economic growth, while also supporting Meta's expanding AI capabilities. The meta stock has been performing well in the market.
