Mezhadur's wartime heroes immortalized in new memorial book for Victory Day
A memorial book honouring the heroes of Mezhadur village is set to be published ahead of Victory Day. The initiative began with Antonina Menshenina, a specialist at the local I.P. Morozov Museum, who gathered extensive materials for the project. Regional officials have since backed the effort, ensuring its completion in time for the commemorations.
Antonina Menshenina took the lead in compiling the book's content. She collected photographs of 350 native sons of Mezhadur, including war veterans who once lived in the village. Her work formed the foundation of the project.
In April 2025, Komi Republic Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Yemelyanov updated regional head Rostislav Goldshtein on the book's progress. The discussion took place during a meeting with residents of Sysola District. Goldshtein later endorsed the project and instructed the Komi government to provide support for its implementation.
The book's design is now in its final stages at the printing house. A limited run of 50 copies will be produced before Victory Day, ensuring the stories of Mezhadur's heroes reach the community in time for the annual remembrance.
The publication will preserve the memory of Mezhadur's wartime contributions. With official backing and local dedication, the book is on track for release. The 50 printed copies will be distributed as part of the Victory Day commemorations.
