Military drills in Landshut district may disrupt travel next week
February 3, 2026: Finding the Way Back to Friendly Forces
In 2026, the municipalities of Essenbach and Bayerbach are regularly the setting for a special Bundeswehr exercise. The drill, conducted by the Medical Training Regiment in Feldkirchen, is a breakout exercise in which soldiers learn how to regroup with their units within 48 hours if they become separated in the field.
The next exercise will take place from February 9 to 11. The training area spans from Unterunsbach (in the market town of Essenbach) to Gerabach (in the municipality of Bayerbach), with troops continuing onward toward the district of Straubing-Bogen.
Residents are asked to prepare for possible disruptions caused by troop movements and small military vehicles and to avoid the area during this period. There is no danger to the public.
The district of Landshut requests the understanding of all citizens for any potential inconveniences related to the exercise.
