Military Veteran Charged in Shocking Double Murder of Phoenix Teens

A 31-year-old military veteran has been charged with the murders of two Phoenix teenagers last year. Thomas Brown stands accused of killing 18-year-old Pandora Kjolsrud and 17-year-old Evan Clark during a camping trip over Memorial Day weekend. Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the attack.

The bodies of Kjolsrud and Clark were discovered on 27 May 2023, after the pair went camping together. Autopsies revealed that Kjolsrud had suffered multiple gunshots to the head and upper body, while Clark had been shot several times in the head.

Brown, who served 10 years in the military with no prior criminal record, was arrested in October 2023. DNA evidence linked him to the crime scene, though investigators believe the killings were random, with no known connection between Brown and the victims.

He is currently held at Lower Buckeye Jail in Phoenix on a $2 million cash bond. If convicted, he faces life in prison, as prosecutors have confirmed they will not pursue the death penalty—despite Arizona allowing capital punishment for such cases.

The case remains under investigation, with no clear explanation for the double homicide. Brown's trial will determine whether he is responsible for the deaths of the two Arcadia High School students, whose families continue to seek answers.
