Minister calls for caution in handling fireworks - Minister calls for caution in handling fireworks
Saxony’s Economics Minister Dirk Panter has urged the public to take extra care with fireworks this New Year’s Eve. His appeal comes after two men died in fireworks-related accidents during last year’s celebrations. Panter wants all residents to begin 2025 safely—without preventable injuries or tragedies.
The minister’s warning follows two fatal incidents in the 2024/25 celebrations. A 45-year-old man from Oschatz and a 50-year-old from Hartha both lost their lives due to fireworks. Saxony has seen a worrying number of severe accidents involving pyrotechnics in recent years.
Panter stressed the importance of using only certified products. He also called for responsible handling, asking people to follow safety guidelines. His goal is clear: to prevent accidents and ensure a happy, healthy start to the new year for everyone in Saxony.
The minister’s message focuses on common sense and caution. By sticking to approved fireworks and handling them safely, residents can reduce risks. Panter hopes these steps will avoid further tragedies during the upcoming celebrations.
