Mississippi Launches $100M+ Program to Rebuild Storm-Damaged Homes by December 2025
Mississippi homeowners affected by recent severe storms and hurricanes are set to receive aid. The Mississippi Homeowner Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program, funded by the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery program, launches on December 8, 2025. It prioritizes low- to moderate-income households in areas frequently hit by storms, such as Waveland, Bay St. Louis, and Biloxi.
Gov. Tate Reeves (R-Miss.) announced the program to help homeowners rebuild stronger, safer homes. It covers repairs or full reconstruction for single-family homes damaged or destroyed by the March 2023, June 2023, or April 2024 tornadoes and straight-line winds. Multiple intake centers will open across impacted regions on December 8 to assist with applications and required documents. Priority is given to properties within National Weather Service storm tracks and to vulnerable households, such as seniors, children under 18, or individuals with disabilities.
The Mississippi Homeowner Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program aims to ensure recovery reaches those most in need. It provides financial assistance to eligible homeowners, helping them rebuild and improve their homes. The program launches on December 8, 2025, with intake centers opening across affected areas.
