Misterb&b Redefines Safe Travel for LGBTQ+ Community Worldwide
Misterb&b, a travel platform designed for the LGBTQ+ community, has grown into the largest of its kind with over a million users. Founder Matthieu Jost created the service after recognising the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ travellers during his own trips abroad. The idea for Misterb&b came to Jost while travelling in Spain with his partner. He noticed that many in the LGBTQ+ community struggled to find safe, welcoming accommodation. Launched initially for gay men, the platform later expanded to include all LGBTQ+ members.
The app now verifies every user and provides filters for moods, shared interests, and travel preferences. Around 65% of its users are solo travellers, highlighting the demand for tailored services. Jost has spoken openly about the difficulties in verifying users and reaching the right audience through advertising.
Misterb&b’s success reflects a broader trend in the travel industry, where niche platforms like Airbnb have changed how people book stays. By focusing on a specific community, the company has filled a gap that larger, generalist services often overlook. With over a million users, Misterb&b has become a key player in LGBTQ+ travel. Its verified listings and community-focused features address needs that mainstream platforms may not meet. The company’s growth shows how targeted solutions can thrive in a competitive market.
