Mitch McConnell Falls in Capitol Basement, Continues to Senate Floor
Senator Mitch McConnell, the former Senate leader, took a tumble on Thursday. The incident occurred as he was making his way to the Senate floor in the Capitol basement. McConnell, who plans to retire in January, has had a few falls in recent years.
The fall happened while McConnell was walking, and he stumbled to the ground. An unnamed protester was present at the scene. McConnell briefly let go of his security detail before the incident. He managed to get back on his feet with the assistance of a police officer and waved at the camera. It remains unclear if the senator suffered any injuries from the fall.
McConnell's fall is the latest in a series of similar incidents he has experienced in recent years. Despite the mishap, he was able to continue with his duties. His planned retirement in January will mark the end of his long political career.
