Mittelthurgau merges child protection agencies to boost expertise and stability

On January 1, 2026, a significant change is set to occur in the Mittelthurgau region. The Märstetten Child and Adult Protection Authority (BBRM) will merge with the Weinfelden Regional Child and Adult Protection Authority (BBRW). This move aims to enhance professionalism, stability, and specialization in child and adult protection services.

The merger is seen as an opportunity to sustainably strengthen services and make the authority a more attractive and stable employer in the long term. Smaller organizations often struggle with external developments and labor shortages, making stability and professionalization challenging. By joining forces, BBRM and BBRW aim to better address case complexity and ensure sustainable handling of mandates.

The strategic development of structures and workflows will enable deeper expertise and greater specialization. From January 1, 2026, all BBRM municipalities except Kemmental will join BBRW and be organizationally integrated into Weinfelden’s city administration. This integration is planned to improve administrative efficiency and case management.

The merger of BBRM and BBRW is set to enhance professional quality, better address case complexity, and improve staff stability. Starting January 1, 2026, the Mittelthurgau region will benefit from a more robust and specialized child and adult protection service, ensuring sustainable handling of increasingly complex mandates.
