There are group of people holding placards and walking. These are the trees. I can see small bushes. This is the banner. I can see a building with name boards attached to it. These look like cars. I think these are the current polls.

Moers youth council meets new mayor to boost local volunteerism

The Youth and Trainee Council (JAV) recently held a meeting with newly elected Mayor Thomas Terhorst. During the session, the group discussed ways to involve young people in local volunteer work and shared ideas for upcoming projects. The gathering also marked the first official interaction between the current JAV team and the mayor since its formation in April 2025.

The meeting began with the JAV presenting Mayor Terhorst with a welcome gift—a mug featuring the council’s logo. Marleen Bugsel, the council’s chair, led the discussions, supported by deputy Justin Niemierza and active members Sarah Fischer, Annika Schumacher, and Melissa Borutta.

The discussion highlighted the JAV’s commitment to fostering youth involvement in Moers. The council and the mayor agreed to continue working together on initiatives that encourage volunteerism. Future steps will include planning concrete actions based on the ideas exchanged during the meeting.
