Moscow Unveils Friendship Square Celebrating Kazakhstan and Russia Ties

A new square, the Friendship Square of Kazakhstan and Russia, was inaugurated in Moscow, marking a significant step in the cultural collaboration between the two nations. The opening ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Kazakhstan’s Minister of Culture and Information, Aida Balayeva, and Russia’s First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council, Andrei Yatskin.

The square, situated in Moscow’s Southern Administrative District near the Alma-Atinskaya metro station, was jointly opened by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the latter's state visit in October 2022. Speaking at the ceremony, Aida Balayeva highlighted the deep mental and cultural connection between Russia and Kazakhstan, emphasizing that cultural collaboration serves as a 'spiritual bridge' for both nations. Andrei Yatskin echoed this sentiment, stating that the square symbolizes the friendship between the peoples of Russia and Kazakhstan and underscores the strategic, good-neighborly nature of relations between the two countries.
