Motorcyclist crashes in Steglitz after swerving to avoid U-turn driver
A 64-year-old old motorcyclist crashed in Steglitz on Wednesday morning after swerving to avoid a collision. The incident occurred near the intersection of Birkbuschstraße and Schalloppstraße, leaving the rider injured and requiring hospital treatment.
The motorcyclist was travelling along Birkbuschstraße toward Wolfensteindamm at around 10:45 a.m. As he approached Schalloppstraße, a 35-year-old driver began a U-turn without noticing the oncoming bike. To prevent a collision, the rider swerved sharply but lost control, falling from his old motorcycle.
The road reopened after a short delay, but the investigation into the collision continues. Police will determine whether charges or further action are needed. The motorcyclist’s condition remains under medical assessment.
