MP Funds 35 Teachers, Boosts Rural Education and Jobs in Amenfi Central
Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, has taken a significant step to address the challenge of teacher retention in rural areas. She has employed thirty-five community teachers to support twenty-eight basic schools in her constituency, fully funding the project herself after initial support from the Ghana Education Service.
The project, which began in 2013, aims to provide quality education to every child, regardless of their location. It covers twenty-eight basic schools, with each teacher earning between GH¢ 800 and GH¢ 1,000 monthly. The total cost for the period has been GH¢466,760. Cudjoe employs educated but unemployed youth within the constituency as community teachers, not only benefiting the education sector but also providing job opportunities.
Beyond this initiative, Cudjoe also employs several young people at her block factory, spending about GH¢40,000 weekly on wages. This demonstrates her commitment to supporting her constituency in multiple ways.
Joana Gyan Cudjoe's efforts to improve education and employment opportunities in Amenfi Central are commendable. By fully funding the community teacher project and providing additional jobs at her block factory, she is investing in the future of her constituency.
