Mühlacker Celebrates Diversity, Reflects on Democracy
An exhibition titled '(An)-gekommen' is currently on display at the city library in Mühlacker, inviting visitors to reflect on their personal views on democracy. Meanwhile, the city has been celebrating diversity and unity during Intercultural Week, with several events attracting a vibrant international community.
The exhibition, which runs until November 27, features a democracy wall where locals and visitors can share their thoughts on democracy. Over at Kelterplatz, more than 40 people from various countries gathered, creating a lively image of the city's international community. Among them was 12-year-old Hasan from Syria, who expressed his heartfelt wish for peaceful coexistence.
The city also held an MBE action day called 'Our democracy - a privilege?!' in the town hall, attended by over 50 guests. Saboor, an Afghan doctor now learning German to practice medicine in Germany, was among the participants. Three personal accounts were shared during the event, which was attended by state parliamentarian Stefanie Seemann (Greens). Mayor Frank Schneider reminded participants of the challenges refugees face in starting new lives in Germany.
The '(An)-gekommen' exhibition and Intercultural Week events in Mühlacker have provided platforms for dialogue and reflection on democracy, diversity, and unity. They have brought together locals and newcomers, fostering a sense of community and understanding.
