Munich’s mayor honors Italy’s new consul general in Golden Book ceremony
Munich's mayor has officially welcomed Italy's new consul general into the city's Golden Book. The ceremony took place with key figures from the Landshut Association for German-Italian Friendship in attendance. Among them was Paolo Annunziata, a longstanding member of the organisation.
Sergio Maffettone became Italy's consul general in Munich in February. On a recent visit, Mayor Alexander Putz formally recorded his name in the city's Golden Book. The two discussed the importance of German-Italian relations and agreed to deepen cooperation between the nations.
Paolo Annunziata, a consular correspondent with over 40 years of experience, attended the event alongside Maffettone. Margit Napf, the association's former vice president, was also present. Putz publicly thanked both the Annunziata family and Napf for their decades of work in fostering German-Italian ties.
Annunziata, who has lived in Landshut for 50 years, helped found the Landshut Association for German-Italian Friendship in 1985. As of December 2025, he continues to serve as its president, though no further details about his role have been made public.
The ceremony marked Maffettone's official recognition in Munich. The mayor's acknowledgment highlighted the contributions of local figures like Annunziata and Napf. Their work in cultural and diplomatic exchange remains a key part of the city's international relations.
