Punctuality of Munich S-Bahn continues to decline - Munich’s S-Bahn delays spark urgent repairs and upgrades in 2025
Munich's S-Bahn network faced significant delays in late 2025, with punctuality dropping to around 73% on some lines. The decline has prompted action from DB InfraGO, the company responsible for managing the city's rail infrastructure. Deutsche Bahn has acknowledged passenger frustration and outlined plans to address the issues.
The second half of 2025 saw a sharp fall in punctuality across Munich's S-Bahn system. While overall on-time performance remained just above 80% in October, certain routes experienced far worse delays. Aging infrastructure, heavy passenger numbers, and ongoing construction work were key factors behind the disruptions.
The decline in Munich's S-Bahn punctuality has pushed DB InfraGO to take immediate action. Construction projects and better maintenance are now underway to tackle the root causes of delays. Passengers can expect improvements as the upgrades progress over the coming months.
