Municipal Election Results Officially Confirmed

The results of Ibbenbüren’s 2025 municipal elections have now been officially confirmed. After a thorough review process, the city council declared the outcomes valid during its December 16 session. No objections were raised at any stage of the verification.

The elections took place on September 14, 2025, with voters choosing representatives for the city council, mayor, and the Committee for Integration and Equal Opportunity (ACI). The electoral committee first verified the results on September 18, finding no irregularities. A further review by the election scrutiny committee on December 9 also raised no concerns.

The CDU secured the most seats in the city council, winning 18 with 39.5% of the vote. The SPD followed with 14 seats (32.6%), while the Grüne took 4 seats (10.0%). Both IFI and Die Linke gained 3 seats each, with 6.1% and 7.0% of the vote respectively. The FDP obtained 2 seats with 4.3% support. In the mayoral race, Marc Schrameyer (SPD) was confirmed as mayor after receiving 53.55% of the votes. The city council’s final approval on December 16 made the results legally binding. All election details are now available on the City of Ibbenbüren’s website at www.ourwebsite/politics.

The confirmation of the election results means the new city council and mayor can now proceed with their duties. The CDU holds the largest share of seats, while Marc Schrameyer begins his term as mayor. The outcomes for all positions, including the ACI, are now finalised.
