Münster Expands 'Finally a Home!' Initiative With Vonovia and Vivawest
Münster's housing security department has expanded its successful 'Finally a Home!' initiative. Since 2020, it has saved 643 households from losing their homes, with 45% managing to stay in their current apartments. Now, the city has partnered with Vonovia and Vivawest to offer more affordable apartments to those in need.
The city's housing security department offers free consultations to individuals and families facing housing crises. They assess suitability for future tenancies and provide guidance. Since 2023, Vonovia and Vivawest have held a contingent of nine apartments for this purpose, ensuring rent and heating costs align with German social law standards.
Early consultation is more cost-effective for the city treasury than temporary accommodation in emergency shelters or hotels. The initiative has proven successful, preventing home loss for 643 cases. Affected people can seek advice via phone (02 51/4 92-55 72) or email ([email protected]).
Münster's expanded cooperation with Vonovia and Vivawest aims to provide every suitable vacant apartment to people at risk of losing their social security. The city's housing security department continues to offer free consultations, making early intervention more successful and cost-effective.
