Münsterland Council Bids Farewell to Mayor Markus Lewe
The Münsterland Regional Council gathered on Monday, September 29, to bid farewell to outgoing Mayor of Münster, Markus Lewe. The event took place at the new building of logistics company Fiege at the port of Münster, with no specific attendees listed. Markus Lewe, who has served for 16 years, attended his final meeting as the head of the council.
The regional council meeting, a regular event, discussed strategies relevant to Münsterland. During his tenure, Markus Lewe collaborated with the districts on several projects, including the Münsterland S-Bahn, Telenotarzt system, merged Sparkasse, and the Münsterland brand in tourism. Dr. Olaf Gericke, head of the Warendorf district, spoke on behalf of the council members, praising the positive impact of their collaboration with Lewe on the entire region.
Markus Lewe's term as mayor of Münster ends on October 31. The regional council members thanked him for the trusting collaboration during his term and wished him well in his future endeavors.
