Münster's Peace Hall Unites 34 Faith Groups in Annual Dialogue Event
Münster's Peace Hall hosted an annual interfaith and intercultural gathering, the West-Eastern Divan project, led by Thomas Nufer. The event, part of the city's Dialogues for Peace series, brought together 34 faith groups, with Lord Mayor Markus Lewe stressing the importance of dialogue and understanding.
The reception, a tradition since 2005, saw around 50 representatives from various religious communities meet with Mayor Lewe and his counterpart from Osnabrück, Katharina Pötter. The candlelight ceremony in the Peace Hall marked the centrepiece, symbolizing commitment to dialogue and harmonious living.
The event is part of a joint meeting series between the peace cities of Münster and Osnabrück, alternating annually between their historic town halls. In 2015, Professor Alfons Kenkmann chaired the advisory board for the 'Ankommen in Osnabrück' expert conference, focusing on educational prospects for newly arrived young people.
The West-Eastern Divan project, led by Thomas Nufer, successfully brought together diverse faith groups in Münster's Peace Hall. The event underscored the importance of interfaith dialogue and understanding, with Mayor Lewe emphasizing the need for reaching out and listening to one another in democratic societies.
